Sign the petition to stop Santander closing the last bank in Liskeard
South East Cornwall’s Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign to stop Santander from closing their branch in Liskeard town centre.
At the end of January, Santander announced their intentions to close the branch in May, along with 43 other branches across the country.
Banks are closing on high streets up and down the country. This is further restricting access to cash and banking services, especially for those who cannot use online banking services.
Lib Dem Town Councillor, Cllr Naomi Taylor said: “Many people in and around Liskeard rely on our Santander branch. If the bank is to close later this year, that will have a devastating impact on the town and our high street.
“I have written to Santander to express my concerns directly to them. It is really important that they understand the strength of feeling there is in Liskeard.”
Cllr Naomi Taylor and the local Lib Dems have launched a local petition, calling on Santander to do the right thing and reverse this decision.
Naomi added: “I would encourage everyone to sign this petition and make their views known. Together, we have a much greater chance of stopping this closure.”
